SEUCK Title Screen Maker V1.6 released

We are very proud to announce the latest version of the SEUCK Title Screen Maker has been released today. This time it is version 1.6. This new version supports importing of raw binary character sets, which have been drawn in Charpad or Ultrafont PC (Must be exported as raw binary first before importing into your project). You can load and set up double-height character sets (1x2) and text. The logo size has been expanded by one full character row, so instead of being 40 x 7 (XxY), the size is 40 x 8. The hi score table width has been reduced to make room for decoration. The flashing over the hi score table has also been improved. It is now possible to install enhancement initialise and play subroutines. There is also an example game called Stormbird that is featured in the prodiuction. On side 2 of the disk are a few Public Domain utilities and some enhancement source files, in which you can modify and assemble to disk. SEUCK Title Screen Maker comes complete with a manual. So that adding enhancements to your SEUCK games can be much easier. Enjoy THE NEW DIMENSION of your own SEUCK creations.

NEW C64 Game (Well, sort of): Blastopia DX - Special Edition.

The alien blasting just never stops. Once again, TND is happy to bring to you a brand new C64 game. Well, sort of. It is actually a 5th anniversary remaster of one of my all time favourite horizontal scrolling blasters I made. Who would have thought that a game which was originally meant to be an Assemble It tutorial (in December 2018) becomes something even better?. Blastopia Deluxe - Special Edition is exactly that. It features plenty of alien blasting, pretty cool landscapes by Saul Cross, and awesome tunes. Blastopia DX was originally entered as part of the RGCD 16KB Cartridge Compo 2019. Then finally extended with some missing elements in 2023. They are, a set of game options, tweaked sprite/character collision, a slightly better starfield and finally a hi score table.

Merry
C=64 Christmas

This is unfortunately my very last update before Christmas Day. Don't fret, there will be a new release coming on 30th December 2023, but it will NOT be a full game, but a very handy utility with some code snippets to enhance your productions. That is correct. The SEUCK Title Screen Maker V1.6 is coming out for you to download from TND and my itch.io site. It will be something pretty special. Alpacalypse is still in the making in co-op with TND and Blazon. It could be a fun game to look forward to some time in Winter/Spring 2024. Well, that is enough from me now. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and I shall see you on New Year's Eve.

Huge Announcement for SEUCK users: SEUCK Title Screen Maker V1.6 coming this December

The New Dimension has some fantastic news for users/fans of the Shoot Em Up Construction Kit. Earlier on this year, I launched the SEUCK Title Screen Maker V1.5, a tool that allows you to create your own title screens into the SEUCK Editor. There is going to be a final version of the SEUCK Title Maker which is V1.6. It will be featuring the regular features, like the SEUCK Title Maker V1.5+ originally did, however there are some new features that have been implemented into the main editor. You can use 1x2 font based screen text and scrolling messages as well as 2x1 (as long as the lower character or the character on the right uses the shift+character) Unfortunately 2x2 fonts are a no go area due to the screen RAM location for the credits and scroll text. Also there is an option to allow load in raw binary charsets, which were exported from applications such as Charpad, Ultrafont PC, Cuniform, etc. You will still be able to import standard charsets from charset collections, or designed with native C64 utilities such as Font Editor V1.3, Dunex Char Ed V2.0, etc .. into the main editor. The hi score table and flashing routines have also been improved, removing the dotted dividers. The hi score table is minimized to give more room for decoration, but it still has 10 ranks as in previous versions of the SEUCK Title Screen Maker. The only clause is that this cannot be possible to design or edit with fonts that are larger than 1x1. The Logo size has been changed from 7 x 40 to 8 x 40. There will also be more surprises, which I am keeping a secret. You will have to wait until December 2023. Of course like with all TND productions the game will be available to download free. There will also be an online manual/feature in the next coming SEUCK School update.

Watch this space SEUCK Fans. You won't want to miss it!

SEUCK School update: NTSC SEUCK Games to PAL and Final score rendering

If you remember finding some old SEUCK games on Public Domain disks, and found that those games did not work. The reason could be because they were built for NTSC C64s instead of PAL. Today's update consists of some simple tips and tricks on how to fix NTSC games to work on PAL - and these don't require any programming skills either. Just an Action Replay cartridge (or any other freezer cartridge) or similar. The second tip for today is finishing off the score panel rendering suitable for two players. The tutorial is based on moving the score panel to a central point, and also some final tips after that to give you ideas on where everything goes.

SEUCK School

The next update hopes to be re-structuring the SEUCK School page, by splitting chapters into separate chapters.

Lunar City - Replaced

You may have remembered on 1st August 2023, I launched Lunar City. Unfortunately I accidentally launched an old private BETA test version of my game instead of the correct version of the game. The crack on CSDB is the correct version. The BETA version had a few bugs in the game in which included a counter value bug. Also the game was supposed to be over when the bullet count is one value lower than the number of aliens to be destroyed. The correct version of the game has been uploaded onto the TND games page. I hope you have fun and challenges playing this updated version. Have fun blasting those aliens.

Some utility news updates

Although my main focus is based on C64 games. There are a few utilities in which are under production. The first utility is simply a small upgrade to the SEUCK Title Screen Maker V1.5+ - but as an additional support program since there is no need for any more upgrades in the main title screen editor. If you are 100% bored with your standard SEUCK  score panel and want to jazz it up with a new one. This utility might help support it instead of the AR Run tool. Talking of SEUCK, if you want to code enhancements as indicated in SEUCK school, but are limited with code. There is good news that the KickAssembler SEUCK Framework V5 is now currently under production. It aims to make enhancing SEUCK games a lot more easier. V5 will have only one source file in which you can insert your filenames for your features. Also there is going to be an option in which you can make custom score panels, suited to the player games. Finally, there is Tape Master Pro V5. The most popular tape mastering tool will be back. There have been some suggestions on what people would like to see in the newer version of the tape mastering tool. I heard responses that with V4 the game loaded faster not giving music enough chance to play long enough on small game productions. Also some of you would like to see support for hires bitmaps as well as multicolour bitmaps and the pictures load in the style of the Ocean loader. We'll have to wait and see what happens there. Keep an eye out for further updates about these.

New C64 game: Lunar City by TND Games

Lunar City is a fun space themed shooting gallery game, inspired by Atlantis for the ATARI 2600. The game was also submitted for issue 15 of Zzap! 64 Micro Action's covermount as an exclusive first release. It features full presentation with arcade style sound effects and atmospheric music. The game also consists of four stunning locations, and 16 levels. Unlike Atlantis, there are some differences. This game also requires good skill and tactics. Picture this! Your home planet is under threat of invasion by an evil blue alien mother ship. Your defenses have been activated, but the defenses are too weak to keep the aliens away. The only best defense Lunaris has is YOU!. Your mission is to fire shots from your three sentinels and destroy a set target amount of aliens to clear each wave.  Some aliens will just roam past, but there are rogue aliens that want to blast away your nuclear reactors (The red/green pods based on top of the city structures). Your shots are very limited, and Lunaris will be deemed weaker if your shot count is below the alien target amount. The result for less shots available, no sentinels or no reactor pods results to instant destruction of Lunaris. So don't think think this an easy game :)

Snake vs Bomb 2 news

There have been reports that the download link to Snake vs Bomb 2 had no access to the game, but to a screen shot of the loading bitmap. This has been reported last week. Well, the great news is that Snake vs Bomb 2 is now available to download from this web site. I'm sorry for the problems some of you have been experiencing with Snake vs Bomb 2 on the TND web site. The game hasn't been updated, since there was no need for an update, but the url to the picture has now been linked directly to the game.

There is just one more thing before  I go. I  want to say a huge THANK YOU to everybody who checked  this game out. I was really surprised how much of a success Snake vs Bomb 2 has been, via Retro Gaming reviews, and streams. It appears that a lot of you seem to enjoy this casual gaming production.

Now slither along and enjoy those two Snake vs Bomb games:

Some changes to future T.N.D Productions

The changes mainly correspond to future development of TND productions on itch.io. It has been decided that anything that is currentlty under development or is being tested before official public release date will not have a public itch.io page activated until after the download is ready. I think this option would perhaps be a much fairer option than have people see a new release announced, but no download or online version of the game / utility is present. This also corresponds to covermount games.

9th April 2023 - A new C64 game
Snake vs Bomb 2 by TND Games

Here's something that has just hatched out of your Easter Egg. Not an Easter chick, or bunny. In fact it is something completely different but still a whole lot of fun. It is the slimy green Snake vs Bomb 2. An amazing sequel to its successor, Snake vs Bomb. Your snake leaves the steep cave for a very long journey along the cavern. A lorry has dumped scrumptious fruit, which the snake loves, but also deadly bombs which some evil sod has placed at random :o)  Snake vs Bomb has your snake eating apples, bananas, cherries and strawberries. However, it must avoid eating or touching bombs. It is purely canyon chaos. Also a fun entry for the Snake Jam, run by Retro Programmers Inside (RPI) and Phaze101. Have fun playing this crazy game, but always remember to eat five a day, but of course don't eat anything explosive :o)

For Speed We Need 3 by TND and Blazon

Are you ready for some fun racing? Well, The New Dimension and Blazon games division are very proud to present a full game which participated in the Retro Programmers Inside (RPI) and Phaze101 Retro Racing Cars jam. Then later was submitted to Zzap! 64 Micro Action issue 13's cover mount. Although proposed release date for the public release is supposed to be on 7th April, but had to be moved backwards to today instead. For Speed We Need 3 is the series finale. It features a nice loading screen made by Freeze/Blazon, full on presentation with up tempo music (which I composed using EMS V7.03 for a change).  There is also a whole single track in which your red car must complete 24 laps in the RB Le Mans in order to become a winner. However opponent cars are heading towards (I wonder why that is the case). You must avoid crashing into them and the hazardous obstacles. Pick up tools and fuel barrels as these will help. Avoid running out of time, fuel and lives otherwise you will lose the game. If you cannot complete 24 laps, try to beat your previous high score. Most important of them all, have fun racing, while you wait for the TND Easter release of something else THIS SUNDAY.

VIOS - Enhanced Edition by Carl Mason

Many years ago, Carl wrote a vertical scrolling shoot 'em up (Using the Shoot Em Up Construction Kit) called "V.I.O.S". TND released two versions of the game. Now we have a very special enhanced version of VIOS. Although it is the same game, this new version features special enhancements such as a new front end with hi score table, get ready and game over scenes. There is also a new status panel, and also some really smart background animation trickery made speically made for the water stage. The game still features the title and in game music which was made for VIOS 2011. Guide your two VIOS fighters and do battle against the evil Rynax empire, which threatens to take over your world. During your battle, your squadron will encounter deadly bosses, they may be indestructible, but don't worry - help is at hand. Pickup power ups to boost your score, as these will be vital to gain extra lives.

Cipher Patrol 2 - The Pure Sword by Eleanor Burns

Despite TND no longer running the Official C64 SEUCK  Compo since deciding its closure in 2021. There is nothing stopping gamers from making new games with the classic Shoot Em Up Construction Kit, and it is even a bigger bonus to see them enhanced. Eleanor Burns has really pushed SEUCK further by fully transforming the engine into an animated flip screen platform game. We had the epic Synthia 2 earlier on in January. Now Eleanor treats us all to another flip screen arcade adventure, inspired by Strider. Cipher Patrol 2 - Is a run, jump and shoot 'em up based in ancient India. You are Agent Cipher, who must stop a threat of global domination by the evil spirits and the guards. She must traverse each room from the right to left, dealing with the enemy forces along the way, either by agility (you can jump, and climb certain walls), with your sword, or with "smart" grenades (limited collectables, activated with "S", but useless against bosses). Other power-ups, carried by flying drones, will increase your sword range and lives. Finishing the game will reveal a password for the epilogue Remember, once you are in a room, there will be no turning back.

If you fancy a try at making SEUCK enhancements, please check out The SEUCK Vault and also SEUCK School for further tips and tutorials.

Yauzeras by Gib Ranx

Did you you enjoy Synthia 2 last month? Well, this month we do have yet another fun contributor's game for you to enjoy. It is yet another game developed using the Shoot Em Up Construction Kit. But this time, written by Gib Ranx. Yauzeras is a vertical scrolling shoot 'em up inspired by games such as Side Arms Hyperdyne, Forgotten Worlds, etc. This game also features a new front end with hi score table and also some cool music and a brand new score panel. All of that courtesy with TND Games (voluntarily for free as always). Your home world is under threat of destruction, thanks to an evil tentacled alien ruler. You slip on your space suit, jet pack and set off into the depths of the underworld in a brave attempt to seek out and destroy the evil beast. However, you will have to take a long journey through each zone, and blast many aliens as possible. Can you stop your world from being destroyed by the beast? Good luck.

2nd January 2023 - SEUCK School Update

Making a new Score Panel for SEUCK games

The latest installment (or should I have said update) of SEUCK School has officially happened. You may have remembered that back in July / August 2022, I started a feature on making a brand new score panel in SEUCK games. The chapter was supposed to be split into two parts, but unfortunately the way I did it didn't quite work out to how it should have. The great news is that the SEUCK Score panel update is now complete. It features two different ways on how to make your own score panel fit for SEUCK game creations. One of which is based on a game for 1 players only, and another which is based on a game for 1 or 2 players. Ray Fish has been used as the example, and you can also download the project disks and source code, which have also been included in the tutorial. So, are you bored with old SEUCK score panels and you want to make really cool new ones? Why not check out this tutorial.

SEUCK School: Making a new Sprite Score Panel

New Year - New things

This may be the second day of the New Year, 2023, but there are actually a few new things that are currently in the pipeline. First of all, the Blazon team are working on a brand new game for RPIs Racing Cars game jam (Which the submissions deadline closes on 31st January). If you are a C64 programmer and fancy having some fun making a a racing car game specially for the game jam. Then there is still a bit of time. Check out the Racing Cars game jam for rules and how to enter.

Amazing news for SEUCK fans

Other news is that there are a few new SEUCK games coming out at the start of this year and awaiting enhancing. Although I am currently finishing off the enhancements for one of those for the Zzap! 64 Micro Action covermount. It is a really cool vertical scrolling shoot 'em up by Gib-Ranx. If you remember Forgotten Worlds, you might like this game. Secondly there is a game sequel to Cypher Patrol, by Eleanor Burns and is currently awaiting new front end and music. And finally there could be a new SEUCK Compo hosted by Merman later on this year. If this does happen, I'll post a link to the TND menu page to the compo web page (and even post some news about it).

Looking into the future

It is now time to look into the future. 2022 has been quite an amazing year for TND. A few quality productions had risen and I successfully got Cruiser-X 79 finished and released in time for the end of 2022. That was heck of an achievement. So then what does 2023 hold for the C64 from TND? It is not known at the moment, due to the reducing amount of time I will have available for game and music development for the C64, due to real life reasons. It does not mean that there will be no new productions from me. I aim to continue with my C64 development activities (and a new theC64 game dev challenge) throughout this year. However there will be no more new big game projects like Cruiser-X 79.
