25t December 2025
New SEUCK Enhancement tool SEUCK Title Screen Maker V2.0 released

Although TND is NOT doing a proper Christmas update this year. I am very pleased to announce a new version of the SEUCK Title Screen Maker. It is perhaps one of the best versions up to date also. SEUCK Title Screen Maker V2.0 allows you to not only make a new front end for your own game creations made with SEUCK or Sideways SEUCK. It also has a built in options to enhance your SEUCK games more. The most important feature is that it is now possible to link your finished title screen direectly onto a finished SEUCK game without having to use a machine code monitor, or Action Replay - but you will need your game to saved to disk as 2 files from "Save as finished game" from SEUCK's storage menu .

Other features include fixing some of the bugs that are common in SEUCK. For example, the players can now spawn at exactly the same position they died from. There is also a smart bomb option, where on shooting an enemy set by a number of points, you can destroy all enemies on screen. There is also the random firing replacement option, where enemies use clockwise rotational firing. Other options include fixing the Sideways SEUCK scrolling flicker and also looping enemy movement after storing them. As usual there are two example games complete with assets, a full user guide and additional code snippets. Hopefully this version of the enhancement tool makes a nice Christmas present for you all.

I would to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy 2026.

SEUCK Compo 2025 - Part 2 - Entry #10 - Bubble Duck by TND Games

TND is NOT doing a Christmas update this year, but I do have a nice little SEUCK Compo entry I have made. This time it is a game made using Martin Piper's Left Scrolling SEUCK. Bubble Duck is a fun little arcade adventure, featuring a few in game enhancements (not too many since it is made as a compo standard). You play the role of a cute yellow duck, inside its bubble, who is in search of alernative transport, as a big fat shark knocked the SS Quack right into the abyss. The poor wetland creature has to take a long and dangerous journey inside a bubble and he must watch out and fight the deadly underwater plants and creatures and the fat sharks. Prepare to enter the abyss.

With Christmas just around the corner (well just over 3 weeks in fact), the SEUCK Compo ends up with a Halloween themed Game. What?!?!. This is Pinov Vox's final SEUCK Compo entry for this competition, created using the Sideways Scrolling SEUCK Left (2008 version). The game is called "Puppix - The Cabbage Forest".

You play the role as hapless sailor, Puppix, who is coming home from work, only to discover that a giant pumpkin appeared and casted an evil shadow around his home town. He sets off to meet his beloved, Olga, but finds that her house is now haunted and Olga is scared. The haunted house was caused by an evil spell cast by the evil witch Evilia and mother of Puppix's arch nemesis, Butch. Puppix must now head off into the Cabbage Forest in search of the evil Evilia, but there will be a few more spooky surprises on the way - and Butch, who dreams about nothing else, but dragging poor Olga and knocking Puppix out.

SEUCK Compo 2025 - Part 2 - Entries #3, #4 and #5 - Gnom 2, Gnom 3 and Gnom 4 by Rodrigo Yeowtch

While you have been busy blasting away at entry 2 last week... A week later, three new entries enter the SEUCK Compo 2025 - Part 2. Rodrigo Yeowtch brings out three cute adventures in the Gnom Series (As separate compo entries as there is no rule against it). After failing to defeat the dark forces in what used to be a lovely village that thrived of gnomes, birds, rabbits, magic mushrooms (NO! not that type which you might be thinking of!), etc. Gnom returns in three more adventures by the names of Gnom 2, Gnom 3 and Gnom 4. His quest is to simply return light back to the dark world which he has to live in. Armed with a set of boomerangs, he sets off to fight the evil demons and try to meet up with the creator of the darkness. ... and no, I don't mean the front runner of a glam rock group. Hey ho, let's go on an adventure and boomerang those nasties into oblivion.

SEUCK Compo 2025 - Part 2 - Entry #2 - GallBlazer

The C64 SEUCK Compo 2025 - Part 2 has made a good start. Only 3 days in and a new entry pops by. This is a game for 1 player only, where your task is to blast away at incoming gallstones that appear inside the Gall Bladder. On each level, you have a limited number of shots. Can you save the patient by removing enough gallstones? Of course this game should not be taken too seriously and it was made just for fun. Also we won't go into any more detail about why this game come to life :)

The competition ideas are still the same as this year's earlier SEUCK Compo 2025. The rules are slightly updated, but.not much has been changed there. As usual the winner of the competition will get their game enhanced with a new front end and also in game enhancements. At the end of the competition after the results, there will be the SEUCK Compo prize pack. The competition has also just started with an entry from Roberto Ricioppo called "Hunt For Invaders". New C64 Game: Let's Invade 3 released today

The New Dimension continues to celebrate 30 years a bit earlier than usual with a new C64 game creation. It is Let's Invade 3. A neat Space Invaders variant with a difference. Compared to the previous Let's Invade games (1 and 2). I decided to mellow things down a bit and make it feel like a traditional retro arcade shooter and blend in a touch of modern 80s disco style music and sound effects. There is no trance music, no constant flashing. Instead you get a nice parallax scrolling animated star field. You control a cannon which must defend the galaxy from the evil space aliens. The darker the colours the easier they are to destroy. The light coloured aliens require more than one hit to kill. When shot, the rest of the alien team will get annoyed and attempt to reach their target destination (you) quicker. The aliens drop bombs at random, and also do not move the full length horizontally before moving down towards your cannon. (Well, that'd be Space Invaders wouldn't it?). Fight 40 waves against the invaders to save the galaxy.

This game was made originally for issue 36 of Scene World as part of the game coding, but due to the delay of SWO36 being released. I decided to release this game today.

Snake Vs Bomb 2 Updated to V1.2

You may have remembered back in April 2023, I launched a fun addictive game called Snake vs Bomb 2 for the RPI and Phaze 101 Retro Snake Game Jam. This game has been very successful amongst the gamers. However, I had one idea for a power up in mind for quite some time. So now, this has been implemented and got submitted and featured on the Zzap! 64 Micro Action #27 covermount as a full game. The new power up implemented into Snake vs Bomb 2 makes the game even crazy than before. It is a beer bottle, in which the snake picks up and gets drunk for a short period of time. This power up will reverse the player control and also slows the snake down. Now you can check out the new feature for yourself. The game source code has also been provided and should be able to be assembled in ACME or C64Studio. Have fun!

SEUCK Compo 2025 Prize Package Update

I have some news about the C64 SEUCK Compo prize package, what is happening and also when the compo prize pack will be launched. First of all, you may have remembered in the SEUCK compo that only one entry will be featuring a new front end and in game enhancements as the main compo prize. In fact, there is more good news for top three entrants. The two runner ups will also be featuring a new title screen presentation and loading bitmap, but will not feature any additional features hardcoded by myself. I have also decided to include a bonus production as a special feature for the prize package. This year I did not get round to entering the C64 SEUCK Compo, so in return I'm making something with it and will be enhancing it with the Scripting Construction Kit, to push things a bit further :) The launch of the compo prize package will be near to the end of August 2025. As usual all entries will be featured on multiple digital disk and tape formats. The top three entrants will feature a tape loader with loading bitmap and music, and the other entries will use a simple tape turbo loader. As usual, I would like to say a huge thank you to all the compo entrants who have participated in the SEUCK Compo 2025. There will be another one in September 2025 to mark the 30th anniversary of my very first ever public game release.

SEUCK Compo Entry #13 - Star Skimmer by Alf Yngve

There is one thing I always loved in a SEUCK compo, and that is a really cool space blaster. Well, Alf Yngve delivers exactly that. Alf has also teamed up with Martin Piper to give us Star Skimmer, a vertical scrolling blaster for 1 player only. Star Skimmer has you playing the role of a fearless pilot from the Federation. Cole Skimmer is on a very deadly mission which is to stop the evil Nitwup empire from hatching a plot to take over Planet Earth. The only way to do this is appoach the surface of each passing asteroid and destroy the enemy bases. However, he will not be alone and the aliens are watching his every move. Also there are captured astronauts to be rescued. Star Skimmer features some neat SEUCK Redux enhancements which Martin has included, but I will let you work some of these out for yourself.

You play the role of Shancky, a secret agent, whose headquarters has been ransacked by an evil spy, Mr. X. Mr. X has stolen the "Shadow" organization's defence plans, and threatens to use it as an offensive weapon that could devastate the whole world. Mr. X has also set a cunning plan which is to send his henchmen to take over the HQ, while he plots an evil plan. Poor old Shancky must expose his "Shadow" organization and obliterate the evil henchmen and retrieve back the plans from Mr. X and destroy them in the office shredder. It is time for some fun arcade action and shoot down the bad guys.

SEUCK School Update - Player death spawn (Action Replay version)

There has been a case where specific games made using SEUCK feature a problem, push scrolling games in particular, where the player gets stuck on an unpassable/death background character. This makes it more impossible to allow the player to progress through SEUCK games, even further. Luckily however, TND is here with an updated tip on how to spawn the player on to the last position the player has died. Oklay, so I did this before via an assembly rouytine. Now this time I have made an Action Replay M/C monitor tips version of this trick. If you have an Actiuon Replay/Retro Replay cartridge available, why not give this trick a try.

SEUCK Compo Entry #6 - Presepi nella Nebbia (Nativity scenes in the fog)  by Recycled Music

Just as you thought that Christmas is finally over and are looking ahead to Easter, a Christmas themed Sideways SEUCK compo entry comes its way. According to the author, Recycled Music, Presepi nella Nebbia (Nativity scenes in the fog) was created to be presented at a traditional exposition of nativity scenes models in my little village, that lies on the banks of the Po river (italy). Unfortunally the exposition this year never took place so the author decided to 'recycle' this project for the SEUCK compo. In this game, help Father Christmas deliver gifts to the villagers and the anaimals, but avoid getting run over by those pesky drivers who are out to ruin your day.

Presepi nella Nebbia

SEUCK Compo Entry #7 - Thunder Bird by Eleanor Burns

Yeehaw. It is time to take a trip down to the Wild West with a Western themed action six shooter platformer by Eleanor Burns with some nice western themed music by Richard/TND. The game was created using Martin Piper's adaptation of the Sideways Scrolling SEUCK. You play the role of an outlaw named Zintkala from the Lakota Tribe, who is on a quest for vengeance to find and defeat an evil Demon Serpent that killed her tribe leader. Before she can get there for the ultimate showdown, she must go on a long journey by foot and then by train where she will encounter broken ledges, deadly snakes, buffalo, voodoo skulls and nasty miners who made her life a real misery. Luckily she is armed with a Colt with plenty of bullets and is ready to take on the goddarn varmits. Yeehaw!.

SEUCK School Update - Three NEW tips

SEUCK School has yet again been updated with three new SEUCK enhancing tips. First we have Fixing the Sideways SEUCK background flicker bug using $D011 tricks . This an exclusive look at how the Sideways SEUCK bug flicker takes place and how it can be fixed with a few Action Replay pokes or machine code patches. Stephan Lesch / Out of Order Softworks gives out the full lowdown on how it is done, and I deliver the POKES that will fix the bug. Also, there are a couple of enhancement tricks based on levels using an assembler. The first involves switching the colour of the background, according to the level which the player is based at. The second example involves the art of switching between sub tunes if using in game music according to the level which the player is based on.This tip will be useful for those who want to make a game that contains normal in game music and then switch to end of level boss music, and so on. So that is three tips in one update.Should any more tips come along, I'll add them from time to time. For now, enjoy.

SEUCK Compo Entry #4 - Lucifis by Raul Gubert

A fourth entry has been submitted to the C64 SEUCK Compo 2025. This time it is a vertical push scrolling drive and smash 'em up screen play called "Lucifis". The game is based in the dark world full of high crimewaves. You patrol a police car, who's mission is to get rid of the offensive criminal assassins and try to drive carefully through the streets. The problem, is that you should also avoid the pedestrians who are on the road, but you cannot see them in the dark.

SEUCK School Update - New title screen feature

A new SEUCK School update has been added to the TND web site. This time it is based on preparing and making a new front end with aid of the SEUCK Background editor, an Action Replay, and a whole lot of coding fun. That's right. It is time to transfer the old front ends provided by SEUCK into something much cooler with a snazzy logo, colourful credits page, with scrolltext and some music. Then we place it onto a SEUCK game, like I have done with Alf Yngve's excellent classic, SuperStrike (and I even made a new tune for it).  :)

SEUCK School - New title Screen feature

The next installment (in April or May) will feature making a new front end using a colourful bitmap logo and custom charsets.

Due to time limitations (preparing the latest SEUCK School update), the SEUCK Compo 2025 entries recently submitted today will be launched next weekend.

SEUCK Compo Entry #2 - 4,000 Kung Fu Maniacs - The Twerk of Destiny by Alf Yngve

Alf Yngve entertains us with a new entry for the TND C64 SEUCK Compo 2025. The game is called "4000 Kung Fu Maniacs - The Twerk of Destiny". This is a hilarious enhanced SEUCK creation using Martin Piper's adaptation of the "Sideways Scrolling SEUCK" and this game doesn't half pack a punch. You play the role of either the Master of Awesome, or his trainer, the Master of Exposition, who are off out for the evening to a night club to watch a breakdancing competition - only to find out they just missed their bus. So, they set off by foot, only to realise that a series of crazy ninjas are out to stop them.

New C64 Game: Canyon Tank Duel Released

TND has launched a new C64 game. Canyon Tank Duel is a "no thrills" duel game for 1 or 2 players, which has been made as part of the Lemon64 games coding tutorial "Fun and Games Programming in Assembly - Part 2". Two rivals board inside two large heavy armoured tanks and are ready to do battle against each other to prove who is the best! The battle is based on both sides on top of a canyon. The tanks can fire their shots at their opponents and must completely drain their opponent's tank. After one more shot, their tank is toast. Of course the opponent can return the same favour. There is also a drone (from a well known retailer, who we prefer not to mention) that dispatches power ups. The game features game options for music and sound effects, also some graphics and sprites by Pinov Vox. Source code has also been included. So you can explore how the game is made.

Scene World Issue 35 released

The latest issue of Scene World has been launched on the TND web site. This issue was originally intended for a January 2025 release, but was delayed. But finally issue 35 is here. It features the regular features, including Fun With CBMPRGStudio (Which is based on intro coding). There is also a feature based on Gamescom Latam, and some interviews with not one, but two C64 legends featured in the Scene World Podcasts. There's enough to digest through while you wait for issue 36 of Scene World, which aims to be launched some time in the Summer of 2025.

SEUCK School Update

There is a small SEUCK School Update today, which mainly focus on detecting enemy objects. It has been said that the previous version was sounded quite complicated, I have done my best to make things easy where possible if using an assembler. The quick update consists of two example ideas. The first is based on picking six enemy objects to form a boss, and the other tip is slightly easier and detect an enemy based on score. Also Eneanor Burns has provided a couple more SEUCK related tips based on hires sprites and also sound effects.

Expect more tips later on this month :)

Happy New Year

Canyon Tank Duel coming later this month
2024 has drawn to a close and 2025 is here. I would like to wish you all a Happy New Year. There will be a new game coming later on this month. Although it is finished, I intended it to be part of the next Lemon 64 game coding tutorial. Hopefully this should be in about 2 - 3 weeks time, but for now. Here are a couple of screen shots for "Canyon Tank Duel" as a taster.

The game is a one or two player game where two tanks battle against each other in a series of matches until the maximum number of points has been reached. In the middle of the game screen is a drone, which dispatches random power ups towards one of the chosen players, which vary from good to bad. The production consists of a front end with in game options, player vs computer mode for 1 player. The player vs computer mode does not use artificial intelligence, it uses a series of random movements. As well as the full game, if you visit Lemon 64, you'll get to learn to code games like this - as source code will also be included. It is also hoped that some time in the future for the third part of the tutorial I make a space shoote later on this yearr :)

The Official C64 SEUCK Compo 2025 is back
Now for some awesome news for the SEUCK game making fans.  Although I wasn't intended to run another SEUCK compo. I was amazed with the popular demand for the competition. I had a lot of emails and PMs asking me when there would be another SEUCK compo. Well, I am pleased to announce that by popular demand, The Official C64 SEUCK Compo 2025 is back and it has officially started. We start the compo with the final update of the compo rules. Also there is a first entry submitted to this compo.

The first entry submitted for the Official C64 SEUCK Compo is a sideways scrolling SEUCK creation called Predators of the Valley, written by Roberto Ricioppo. You play a role of a prehistoric flying bird (by the look of things) who is out to hunt for its prey. Fight the enemy predators to make them your pray to score points. Also shut down the square portals.
